- Founding Member and Past President of the Matawan League of Women Voters
- Played a leading role in fighting Imperial Oil Company after it was found to be dumping toxic waste at Burnt Fly Bog, now designated as a Federal Super Fund Site
- Assisted in the restoration of Town Hall
- Participated in the purchase of Matawan’s wetlands with 80% of the funding from the Green Acres Program
- Headed Matawan’s Historic Preservation Program, during which time the group purchased and restored the borough’s most historic 1700’s era mansion
Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Committeewoman of Colts Neck Township, 1997-2006
- Colts Neck Historian – in the forefront of Historic Preservation
- Served as Township Committee Liaison to Colts Neck Police Department, local schools, regional high school, county government, and the September 11th Memorial Committee
- Served as Earle Naval Weapons Station Liaison and is leading the fight to stop residential development at Earle
Elected to first term on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders – 2005
- Served as Director of the Board – 2008, 2010
- Spearheaded the 0% tax increase for the 2008 County Budget
- Freeholder member to County Planning Board, Parks and Recreation Commission and Library Commission
- Formed the blue ribbon panel of the “Save the Horse” Committee, as an advocacy group for the economic viability of the equestrian community
- Oversees the function of the Park System, Public Services and Regulation, including the Sheriff’s Office, Correctional Institution, County Surrogate and the County Clerk
- Member of the Board of School Estimate for both Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Vocational Schools
- Serves on the Police Academy Board of Directors and the County’s Emergency Management Council
- Is in the forefront of farmland preservation – 11,000 acres to date
- Proponent of the Park System – 15,000 acres to date with a goal of 19, 000 acres
- Welcomed the 100,000,000 visitor to a Monmouth County park
- Appointed by Governor Corzine to the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Planning Authority (FMERPA), leading the effort to save the Veteran’s Hospital 2009 – Elected Vice Chair
- Appointed by Governor Christie to the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA), chairs the Veterans’ Sub Committee and is a member of the Real Estate Sub Committee
- Fought and stopped a Federally Exempt Solid Waste Rail Station in Freehold Township
- Directed a challenge to the new FEMA Flood Zone Maps
- Chaired the County’s 325th Anniversary celebration that featured the county historic sites, programs and resources – 2008
- Strong proponent of the Monmouth County Library System
