Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) to Support Expansion of Family Promise of Monmouth County

FMERA and Family Promise of Monmouth County soon will enter into a Purchase and Sale Agreement that will allow Family Promise, a nonprofit organization, to renovate Building 501, an approximately 2,832 square-foot building on Malterer Avenue, with the purpose of providing Homeless Support Services. The conveyance of this property will fulfill one of FMERA’s federal obligations related to the Fort Monmouth Reuse and Redevelopment Plan.

Building 501 - Family Promise

In pursuit of innovative solutions to end homelessness, Family Promise of Monmouth County has been providing Monmouth County children and families with food, shelter, and comprehensive services—including emergency residential shelter services, case management, identification and links to outside service providers, and support programs, including subsidized education programs. Family Promise is planning a $125,000 renovation of the space, including the installation of up-to-date kitchen facilities and ADA compliant restrooms, among other essential improvements.

Although Family Promise facilities often serve as residential shelters, Building 501 will function exclusively as a Day Center. Family Promise intends to offer all its vital Homeless Support Services at the Designated Homeless Service Facility, excluding the residential component, which is to be offered at other sites.
